The two Northwest (now Delta) pilots who overshot their destination by 150 miles before they remembered they were piloting a full passenger jet were not drunk, according to breath-analysis tests taken when they eventually landed. What they were — drum roll — was confused, and not about anything to do with piloting (though that is arguable). They were confused about the new scheduling practices of their new parent airline, and had whipped out their laptops in the cockpit to settle their questions. This is worse than texting while you are driving — about 144 X 10 times worse, since there were 144 passengers on the full jet and the jet travels 10 times faster than a car.
